- Sign Permits required.
To ensure compliance with the regulations of this Chapter, a Sign Permit shall be required in order to apply,
erect, move, alter, reconstruct, or repair any permanent or temporary sign, except signs that are exempt
from permits in compliance with 9.34.110 (Exemptions from Sign Permits).
See Section 9.34.100 for sign permit application and processing
requirements.
- Sign standards.
The sign standards provided in this Chapter are intended to apply to signs in
each zoning district in the City. Only signs authorized by this Chapter shall be allowed.
- New zoning districts.
If a new zoning district is created after the enactment of this Chapter, the
Director shall have the authority to make determinations as to the applicability of appropriate
sign regulations in compliance with 9.xx (Interpretation of Regulations) until this Chapter is
amended to govern the new zoning district.
- Design guidelines.
The City's Sign Design Guidelines will be used in the evaluation of Sign
Permit applications to ensure that signs are well designed, compatible with their surroundings,
and do not detract from the overall visual quality of the City.
- Nonconforming signs.
Nonconforming signs are subject to the provisions of Chapter 9.xx
(Nonconforming Uses, Structures, Signs, and Parcels), in addition to this Chapter.
